What is a concept?

In order to create an effective website, you will need a concept or concepts to provide your website with a professional and aesthetic look and feel, as well as a design continuity that we can use throughout the entire website.  Think of the concept as a "frame" that we will use to surround your content on the various pages so that people are constantly reminded that they are on your site.

The concept development Process

Developing a concept can be broken down into 3 stages, as follows:

Stage 1: Creation of Concept

Based on the information, logos, graphics, images and other materials you provide, we will design a concept for the overall look and feel of the web site, utilizing the branding efforts that you have maintained to create a look that is consistent with your current marketing materials.

Specific Items:

  • Identify any and all navigation or site structure changes and design navigation that will allow for easy direction throughout the site.
  • Create a clean and professional look that will remain consistent with your current branding and marketing efforts
  • Create, format and place any necessary graphics, buttons, header images or any other design aspects that are necessary for the site.
  • Create a "Screen Shot" image of the concept, for viewing on the web, in order to give you a clearer picture of how the site will look.

Stage 2: Modification of Selected Concept

Once a concept has been completed, we will make up to two rounds of revisions to the concept based upon your feedback.  Typical Revisions made are:

Design Changes:

  • Image swapping or modifications
  • Color modifications
  • Font or style changes
  • Background changes
  • Etc...

Layout Changes:

  • Moving data placement on the page
  • Navigation modifications
  • Image placement or re-sizing
  • Etc...

We ask that each round of revisions be presented to us in writing, in order to maximize our efficiency with regard to this task.  Typically, we will ask the client to give us all of the changes they are requesting in the form of a bulleted list, which we will return to the client once we have completed the changes they request, along with any notes we have on those changes.  At that time, the client can then compile a second list of changes, and then re-submit them to us for a second round of updates.*

*Please note: additional rounds of editing can be requested by the client at any time, but will be subject to additional charges based upon the amount of time to complete them.

Stage 3: Final Concept Approval

Once the editing process has been completed, we require our clients to give us final approval in writing of the concept.  This can be done via fax, mail or email and will be kept on file.  Once we have received final approval on the concept, any design changes going forward will have additional costs associated.
